Rainbow Lorikeet (With WIPs from start to finish)

I'm new to colored pencils and after doing some some drawings on sketchbook paper I decided to try it out on colored paper. It started out as and experiment, and I was intrigued by the effect colored paper gave. So I decided to commit to it and finish it as best as I could.

I'm excited to have finished a piece I feel is worth putting in a frame. My mother recently had her birthday, so I'm thinking of giving it to her.

Anyways, comments and critique are most welcome!

Bruynzeel-Sakura Design CPs on Daler Rowney Murano Pastel Paper. The finished piece will be about 6" x 4" framed.

I used my cell phone to take the pictures, quality is a bit faulty.

I also think you did a nice job of it. I have never had the nerve to use any other color paper but black. Keep posting and I am sure your mother would love it. It makes me think of when I was a kid I used to paint these plagues of wood (before tole painting was the rage) with cartoons and my mother had them all hung in the dining room. It makes me smile to this day because it was my mother that taught me the first things about art and perspective among many many things!

Thanks for providing a WIP its great to see how everyone works . I think your Mom would be ecstatic to receive this -I hope you do give it to her.
I love the colours you have used and I really like the texture on the birds head and I agree you have given him/her plenty of character .

I hope we see you in this forum some more -do you like working in coloured pencils?
