Homemade mahjong game

I've finally finished my big project of wooden homemade mahjong.
My first real wooden project.

It all started by purchasing two 2 meters long spruce "poles", which my father has masterfully cut by some powerful machine in his work into ~200 blocks as seen here:

I've polished them:

With color pencils drew the mahjong game symbols on them:

And the worst part, applied the water based lacquer. (In the middle of work it began to snow actually, which resulted in rather quick and erratic rescue mission).

I've had strength (and time, as I had to do it elsewhere then I normally resides) to apply only one lacquer layer to preserve the color pencils actually. 144 blocks are really time consuming.

So here is the finished product:

This is very interesting. Just another way to use color pencils. You did a great job. It looks like it took alot of time to complete. Now just enjoy the game as I always do. Way to Go!

Well I think that wins the prize for the most unique colored pencil project I've ever seen! Something like that will be a great conversation piece and get a lot of play time, I'm sure. It could also turn into a great family keepsake; something to pass down through generations.
Oh the patience you must have had to draw all those tiny designs! Nice job. :-)

What an innovative idea! They look amazing all together in your image and I am not sure I would have the patience to even start such a project, so very well done indeed

I hope they bring you and your family many years of fun!
