website making recomendations
Hi,
I'm new to this site, and art I'm general (I've only been painting for 2 months)
Anyway, I was wondering if anyone could recommend a service for website building/hosting. I don't have much experience with websites, but I'm quite computer literate.
All i really need is a site to display my work and have a bio/info page.
Thanks, kris.

Your website is either not finished or ........ I suggest you have a look.

Re: website making recomendations
I would suggest you start with a blog that you can create pages with (Blogger or blogspot, wordpress etc). As you are just starting out, you wont want to outlay money just yet, plus you will be finding your 'feet'. Your style will change dramatically.
I agree with weebly is another user friendly and free website to use.

Wordpress is a great choice. you can design whole webpages with it and there are plenty of templates.

Re: website making recomendations
Weebly is great!
You construct a site online, using one of their templates. These are my sites, done on weebly:
http://www.hummingbirdcreek.com
http://www.napavalleyartworkshops.com
And I put up this one as a press room site for my local open studios group:
http://www.napavalleyopenstudios.info
They give you a lot of tools and options, and you can put up an unlimited number of pages (for free, too, unless you decide to upgrade to paid - and still really inexpensive - hosting).
Wishing you good luck with it,
Karen

Re: website making recomendations
Just got my website up last week. I went with wix. I can't believe how easy and quick it is to update and change the design.
It is free until you want to have your own domain and take off the ads.

I started with Blogger. You can put pictures up, and talk about them some. For 10 bucks a year, you can have your own url. I like it enough. It is easy to do and inexpensive.

Re: website making recomendations
Hi,
If you have enough knowledge, maybe you could try Joomla.
I guess that Verio has some interesting plans for website and domain plans.
Doing a search, you'll find alot of options, but one thing is certain: websites hardly sell your art; your art and you are the ones who do the sale.
