Two 8x10 paintings "Mauve Poppy I" & "Granada Rose I"

Acrylic on 8x10 canvases. I'm going to work on the poppy some more. I think the rose is done. C&C's appreciated. Thanks!

Michele

Michele, the Rose is awesome!! IMHO, the little bud needs to have a separation shadow so that it does not get lost in the petals of the big Rose. The Poppy is going to be a splash, but I am not reading all of the petals now. I enjoy seeing your work!!

Katherine,

Thanks for pointing that out on the poppy - I knew I wanted to work on the background some more. And I thought the petals just weren't there yet - now I know what to look for. Thanks!

And your advice on the small rose separation shadow - I'll take a look at that, too. Thanks!

Gwen,

Thanks!

Michele

The poppy has good possibilities - it has lovely movement through the work - so don't lose it!

I agree with Katherine about the rose, it's very lively, lots going on in the bloom but the bud seems to put a stop on it! I feel that another, down right of that one, would help - slight angle away from the centre and bud, but not so obviously coloured that it woud take the eye out.

Maureen,

Thanks for your comments. I've updated the poppy and hopefully haven't lost the movement.

I also made one slight change to the rose painting, glazed a spot with ultra blue to show a shadow behind the bud. I chose not to put in another bud. Hopefully, the bud is not stopping the eye anymore.
