tips regarding coloured pencil

hi,
I am colouring my drawings with colour pencil. But it looks dull even if I apply pressure. If I use pastels,it will look more dark.I want to make my colouring look
attractive. Can I make my drawings look attractive with only coloured pencils or coloured pastels?
Please give some tips.
Also I want to know techniques of shading.

Re: tips regarding coloured pencil

Hi ABC! At the top of this forum is the Colored Pencil Library. They have lots of tips up there and some people have even posted pictures as to what their talking about. Most people who post photos of thier work here add details as to what kind of pencils they used, if they also used pastels and details like that in thier posts also. Just hanging around here and looking through the art work, you can get a lot of questions answered. But other than that, it's best to ask about one specific thing at a time to get specific answers. Most of the answers I've recieved here vary from artist to artist. I'm working on a piece now that I am trying to include tips if you'd like to look at that.

Welcome to the forum! Karen and Marie have given excellent advice. The link to the CP Library is below in my signature line. Take a look through there. Grab a snack and a drink before you start! There's a lot of information. You'll be there a while!
