Blue Tranquility - Sailboat in Monochrome
I've always wanted to do a boat painting. I started small, only 8 x 10. I was finally motivated by "Paint My Photo"'s monthly challenge to do a painting in monochrome. I really enjoyed the challenge. I only used 5 colors... Dark Navy, Navy, Mid blue, True Blue and a Sky Blue. On pastelmat with Sennies.
I started on a cream colored base, and it made for some interesting tonal values. Even though I never wavered from my palette, it created some grays, violets and looks kind of neat peeking through the blue. It really created some interest, I think. What do you think?
Critiques very welcome!
