Blue Tranquility - Sailboat in Monochrome

I've always wanted to do a boat painting. I started small, only 8 x 10. I was finally motivated by "Paint My Photo"'s monthly challenge to do a painting in monochrome. I really enjoyed the challenge. I only used 5 colors... Dark Navy, Navy, Mid blue, True Blue and a Sky Blue. On pastelmat with Sennies.

I started on a cream colored base, and it made for some interesting tonal values. Even though I never wavered from my palette, it created some grays, violets and looks kind of neat peeking through the blue. It really created some interest, I think. What do you think?

Critiques very welcome!

I think you did a fantastic job, especially with the boat and water reflections. Your limited palette worked!

Great choice of scene for the palette Lucy! The reflections and hidden moon are some great touches, and the boat looks like a wonderful haven from the elements
