What to submit for an art show?

The university I work for has an annual art show for available for all staff members - students and faculty are not eligible. I have to enter one piece only by this Friday, and all media and type of fine art (paintings, sculpture, photography, drawing, etc.) are lumped together vying for the same first, second and third place prizes. I've narrowed down (I think ) to four paintings, 3 are 11x14, and one is 10x20. I'd appreciate any thoughts you all have on which you think is best and why. Thanks for the help in advance!!

Re: What to submit for an art show?

All of these are great, Larry! I always spend days debating which pieces of my work to enter in a competition, so I know what you're going through.

In my experience, size seems to matter...it seems like the winners often are large paintings/drawings, etc. Even so you should go with your gut feeling and personal favorite.

My favorite of these has got to be C. That tall, proud bison on the cool blue background....it's eye-catching, bold, and really shows your style nicely. If it were my choice, I'd definitely choose that one. I hope this helps. Of course, in the end, it's your choice! Let us know how it goes, and good luck!

Larry
I guess the vote is unanimous. The buffalo has a strong graphic sense and a powerful statement.
Good luck

Re: What to submit for an art show?

Thank you all so much - I totally respect and value your expertise!! C it is - and it was my personal favorite as well, but I fretted over the simplistic background, with the others having much more going on behind the subject(s). Now for that title which still eludes me.
