Oh, I have a Magic Bullet and make smoothies too. Just fruit, low fat milk. Yummy and A-ok on my Weight Watchers plan.

Re: Scavenger Hunt #265 April 19 - 27 2012

J: Another cool group. I esp. love the mouse, the chicken, and the bear. Keep on great Weight Watcher. I ate too many fatty food during this US. visit, KrippyKreme donuts, sweeten tea, fried cheese sticks...

Hocky: Thanks, esp. the info. of the plane. Nice facial expression. Great beard. Great shading and proportion in the hand.

Paul: Thanks. Great thinking of the hand, it came out nice.

Lin: Thanks.

I went in to New York City today from DH's relative in New Jersey to do SketchCrawl sketching. I sketched all day... fun fun fun.. Hope to post the pic. soon.

Re: Scavenger Hunt #265 April 19 - 27 2012

Lin: Thanks.... I am over the TV Dinner ... I just cant control myself

Irwin: Thanks.. really like your sketches... so much confidence is exuded.. Oh by the way that expression must be for the NY Rangers (sorry Joan)... Your Senators are doing super and my Bruins are on their way out... Their backs are to the wall so here's their opportunity to show what they got....

J: Super!... You must have "billions" of little animals and things floating around the house... other than possibly the bear I don't recall seeing any of these guys before.... your groupings are just amazing...

Ai: Thanks...

Well I am not sure how much sketching I will get to do over the next few days.... I am off to the Atlantis in Paradise Island with my wife for our anniversary... Although I would love to do some sketching, not sure that would be in my best interest leaving my wife in the hotel room alone while I go off and play.. hmmm ... I do have my camera though

Re: Scavenger Hunt #265 April 19 - 27 2012

I have one of the best vacation of my life. I went to New York city to do a #35WorldWide-SketchCrawl with NYC sketchers, meeting some new sketching friends and also got to reunite with my dear art friend, Joan. She showed me places in New York, and we braved the cold sketching several places indoor & outdoor together. I also went to Booklyn Art library, seeing some sketchbooks (including work by Jeanne ). I could never ask for a better memorable artful vacation. Thank you Joan and NY sketchers and its friendly people.

#8 bird -- a wonky eagle on the mail box
#9 loved -- clemantis on the mail box

#10 Curly -- the Gugenheim museum, New York

#11 facial expression -- sub. with a sculpture at the Metropolitan Museum, New York

#12 Bent -- Columbus Circle, New York city

#13 alive -- flower stall under the Grand Central station, New York

And here are the both Joan's work (the left one) and my work (the right one) with the real scene.

#14 straight -- window at the NY public library, main branch

#15 what's in the corner? -- outside view of the Grand Central station, Joan and I did a crazy thing, sketching out despite the windy cold damp air of NYC... having a great sketching buddy helps you forget the coldness.

#16 forgiveness -- sub. with statue at the Merchant Gate, the official entrance to the Central Park, NY

#17 religious -- sub with statue at the Grand Army Plaza, the Central Park, NY

#18 comfy -- Chelsea Market, a hip new part of New York, it is an indoor fancy market converted from the old Oreo cookie factory. I sketched indoor there during the cold rainy day in New York morning

Re: Scavenger Hunt #265 April 19 - 27 2012

#19 reflection --I guess, anyone can enjoy a quiet "self-reflection" moment in a spot on "the High Line", the latest New York public park, converted from a deserted elevated train track running through out Manhattan, my sketch was the top one, Joan's was the bottom one. During the sketching of this one, Joan and I were siting in the opening of a tunnel portion of the elevated train track, many times, the tunnel behaved like a wind tunnel. Once my painting stuffs were blown away.

#20 hat -- a gentleman painter in the Central Park was wearing a hat

I hope you all dont mind me posting a photo of me and our friend, Jeanne's wonderful work for her Sketchbook2012 project.

Re: Scavenger Hunt #265 April 19 - 27 2012

Ai - Thank you for your comment. All of your sketches are so great, and I had so much fun with you in the city these last few days!!!! I love the sketches from back in Alabama too. I am still impressed how you sketch directly in pen or watercolor with such gusto!!!

Paul - Good thinking for at arms length. Happy Anniversary...enjoy the trip.

Lin - LOL Thanks. You know I'll try to make a painting out of anything.

Irwin - Thanks. Wonderful collection of sketches. Pass me the chocolate please! Great shading on that bottle.

Jeanne - Another beauty! Each of these have been wonderful. Imagine if all your creatures came to life. What fun they would have.

Ai and I met in NYC on Monday and Tuesday and did some touristy things as well as sketching. Ai took more photos than I did, but I'll share a few of them here.

Here we are meeting at the clock in Grand Central Station on Monday.

Ai outside Grand Central Station after we froze doing an outdoor sketch.

Yesterday we went to the Metropolitan Museum of Art and sketched some of the sculptures. The lady who posed for this statue and Ai both seem to be really concentrating.

On Monday we were able to sketch in Grand Central, outside Grand Central, and at the NY Public Library. Yesterday we sketched at the Met, at the Guggenheim, and down at the High Line Park in Chelsea. My thanks to Ai for coming to visit and giving me a great excuse to spend so much time having fun.
