How to find a private teacher

Hi

I have been looking for someone or a course that would teach me the classical, old master techniques. It seems that nowhere in London, where I am, does this. I have had a few classes with someone a while ago but he didn't really teach me what I needed.

Does anyone know how to find a good teacher? or course?

thanks

ps, I wrote to a couple of artists whose work I admire but no one wrote back!
