Update at long last.  
Getting the look I want to achieve is proving difficult not to mention slow going. I appreciate all your support.
My old photo program was acting up so I decided to uninstall it and install it again...big mistake. I couldn't get it to reinstall no matter what I did. I loved that program (PhotoSuite 4)...I've had it since 2003 and knew it inside out. Now I have to find a good one and learn it all over again. For now I have Gimp2. I'm surprised I managed to do what I wanted to post today. Took me a bit to figure out how to re-size the image.
Anywho...here it is. Lots of back and forth on this to get the feathers looking smooth and consitent. I've gone through almost half a box of blades.(box of 100)
Not quite the whole board...I cropped a bit off the left.

it is amazing with the backlight Lorna. You are really outdoing yourself on this one. With all that work the original will have to go for a million. It really is going to be gorgeous though.
If you hadn't messed around and shown it, you could have given it to me in the swap.
