(WIP): Hazel Bird- UPDATE!

So it's been a LOOONG while.... (I know.) Truth be told, with all those nice comments you guys were making, I kinda' got freaked out that I would fall short of your expectations. However, over time I finished some other coloured pencil pieces and finally got the courage to continue with this piece.

What do you think? I'm still debating whether to make the background and branches darker.... Hmmm~ What do you think?

Just got to get the motivation to finish it. C & C welcomed.

Edit: Also, I forgot to ask. How do you make white feathers look fluffy? I used very light greys, but is there another way?

Perhaps a moderator would be kind enough to add "Update" to the title of this thread. Please and thank you.

this is lovely. I would make the background darker especially next to the lighter parts of the bird! To make him stand out a bit.

This is a nice piece. My first response was how sweet. I choose art for my house based on how it makes me feel. This would be something I would enjoy looking at every day. The colors are nice and you captured the bird very well. Nicely done!

Very nice piece! Soft colors come along very good together. I also would go a little bit darker with background.

Your dad's creative influence is clearly evident in this piece. With his work in mind I think you should leave the background the way you have it. Concider a bolder approach with darker values in your next piece and see which one appeals to you most.

Just going to hang out and watch this develop. Dad's is a beauty, but yours will match it in both feel and color

Hi Paris Girl

Your dad's work is just lovely. Thanks for telling us what media, as I was wondering too.

Your bg is looking so subtle, even and smooth. Can you please share what your technique was to achieve this? Solvents?
