Re: My Inspirational Journal...
lewistechno: Thank you so much for your wonderful compliment!I am so glad you like my journal!
Robert: I love his pose too, I am so grateful to the photographer who gave me permission to use her photo as reference. I got a few pictures of the cardinal myself, but nowhere near closeup enough for a detailed painting.
Cat & Sandra: Thank you so much!!
I have been out traveling to the Hunan province (China)for a week, and I saw at least 4 new bird species, so I am very excited to get painting again. I only hope I can find out what birds they were, so I have some research to do. Hopefully in a few days I can post the result here!
The spring is on its way a little late, and I am so waiting for the cherry blossoms and magnolias to start blossoming!

This red-crested cardinal was a bright fellow I saw in Hawaii, and he was amazing with his bright red head! I think there will be more of him! If not in this journal, then at least as paintings!
Watercolor, acrylics, book pages and paper.
As usual C&C are always welcome, I love hearing what you think of my ideas!

Re: My Inspirational Journal...
Your journal is truly inspirational, both in it's presentation ad it's technique. Beautiful job.

Re: My Inspirational Journal...
Scatty and patk: Thank you so much for your kind feedback!!!
I recently been a week traveling to the Hunan province here in China, visiting Zhangjiajie and Fenghuang. I have seen a couple of new bird species, the most exciting for me was the red billed blue magpie. I hope next week to get some work done in my journal again, and I know that I will make a go with the photos I got from the magpie!
There where one wagtail lookalike that saw that I have not ben able to identify, anyone here that is good at recognizing birds from China???!? I did not get close enough to get a good photo, so that's a bummer. It looked like a pied or white wagtail, but with grey head instead of black, and half the size bigger... well, I will just have to keep on searching.
Happy creativity to everybody!

Re: My Inspirational Journal...
I envy you those birds, Jenny!
Wish I could help with the ID, but it's all I can do to remember the ones in our part of the world.
I do, however, have a full set of the remarkable 'Handbook of the Birds of the World' - 16 volumes of every known species in the world, handsomely illustrated. I love looking through the various bird families to see how many 'relatives' that bird species we have here have elsewhere around the globe.

Re: My Inspirational Journal...
Thank you David, I am glad that you like them!!!
John: Thank you Yes, back at home I have a beautiful big book of birds of the world as well, but I forgot to take it with me when I moved to china... I found however now last weekend in Shanghai a small bird book in english, only about birds in china, so that is better than nothing! I still haven't found that one wagtail lookalike though... Your books of 16 volumes sounds absolutely wonderful! I wouldn't mind having those...

Re: My Inspirational Journal...
Hi everyone!
I been busy painting in the studio, some paintings that have been waiting for me to finally finish them, so my journal has been closed for a while now...
I started experimenting with the new red-billed blue magpie, but no pages finished yet to post here. Soon maybe!
But I have two other pages that I realized that I haven't posted here, so here we go:
(acrylic, watercolor and book pages) I started a year ago on an oil painting with these two ravens, but I never finished it, and as I wasn't happy with how it turned out I am going to put new canvas on the frame and give it another go. The ravens are so great, and I love their attitude that they have in this pose, so I really want to paint them. My problem was the background, so this was an experiment to find something that would work better than what I had before.
(acrylic, watercolor and ink) This was just a random flying great tit that I liked, and I tried a little more representative background, but I think that it will be a total abstract background if I make a painting out of this one.
Now I will return to the studio and continue painting, I have to take advantage of my 'roll' or inspiration or whatever you call it while it lasts...
C&C as always very appreciated!
