Re: WDE 13 Ap 2012, WIP,

so.... nearly finished? or finished? I have worked on the wall so much that the sketch book paper is not holding up to more working too well. I started with the wall being much paler (similar colour to the statue's) but did not like it much, but not sure that I like this much better. I also darkened the sky. Have I spoiled the painting? Opinions welcome.

Re: WDE 13 Ap 2012, WIP,

Grace- The left side to the statue is so very delicate and beautiful but the wall sort of brings it to a screeching halt. The wall cuts the painting in two. I wonder if you cropped off part of the wall and add just a few more flowers/bush behind the statue, it would make for a more cohesive painting. It's just so gorgeous on the left. Your attention to detail and accuracy is fantastic and the modeling/shading of the statue is excellent. It's a great piece. Ducks are adorable too.

My PS skills aren't great but something like this. I hope you don't mind ( just tell me no thanks and I swear I'll listen.)

Re: WDE 13 Ap 2012, WIP,

Thanks Lisilk. I agree with you. I was thinking I should have done away with the wall altogether and stuck with garden. but you live and learn.. I was considering cropping as you have done.. seeing it done does help. I also considered adding a vine crawling up the wall, but wanted some opinions first. thanks for your thoughts. I appreciate all the advise/suggestions I get.

Re: WDE 13 Ap 2012, WIP,

Grace- vine going up the wall would work wonderfully to bring the garden onto that space and break it up and I don't think it would take much. Glad you weren't offended. Your skills are considerable.

Re: WDE 13 Ap 2012, WIP,

Lovely to see the WIP and really good painting on the statue.
I agree with Li about the crop and wall

When scanning/photoing and saving, check the resolution cos that could make it a bigger file ......... I usually make mine 100dpi and up to 800p longest side and they're OK.
