Afternoon glow

It has been a while since I've done oils. Almost ashamed to post this but will anyway. C & C encouraged. Oils on 5"x7" canvas board. Never did any this small either. Cindy Name: desert.jpg

Cindy
I think this is a GOOD composition- it read much larger than 5x7- and has lots of good things going on...particularly with color harmony and the mice big shapes. Strong little piece.

Re: Afternoon glow

There's not a think to be ashamed of in this painting, Cindy! It's a strong piece with a lot of impact. The color and light make this a great painting. I like the distant horizon as well. Great work!

Re: Afternoon glow

Thanks for the kind words everyone! I have to admit I kind of enjoyed doing the small size. I may do more small and work my way up to larger sizes again.

Re: Afternoon glow

I love how my eye flows through the orange rocks and then back onto the distance. Just great!

Re: Afternoon glow

The distance you have gotten is really nice. I think the glow off the rocks really sets it up in front.
