Re: General Sketchbook - Part 6
More sketches. And as you can see I've discovered Manga and I'm actually quite enjoying that medium so will see how I go with it over the next few months.
Having issues with the hair at various points, so will continue to work on that as well as refining and tightening my technique in other areas. Will be attempting to draw some figures and poses shortly which should provide some interesting results judging by previous attempts at the human figure.

Ill just have to keep trying...darn it

Re: General Sketchbook - Part 6
6x6 graphite and charcoal on bond. This is a copy of Sargent's YOUNG GIRL WEARING A WHITE MUSLIN, my third attempt. Several more to do before doing it in oils, but I finally feel like I'm making some progress. This is cross posted in the portraiture forum, the April-May challenge.
C&C welcome.

Re: General Sketchbook - Part 6
Today is the 100th anniversary of the Titanic sinking..I thought it would be cool to stay up late and try to draw a little at the time of the actual sinking...Actually she just hit the iceberg,,100 yrs and 10 minutes ago. .( hey maybe I'll get some paranormal activity ).
In Halifax we have gravestones to the victims, memorial monuments, and preserved fragments of the ship. Nova Scotians have remained respectful keepers of the vessels memory.
so..here's an attempt at Capt EJ Smith who was one of the 1514 that perished that night..
Charcoal,,18x24

Re: General Sketchbook - Part 6
I've recently begun getting back into sketching and making art, this was a quick sketch I did the other night with a Japanese sumi-e brush and ink:

Re: General Sketchbook - Part 6
I don't think I can edit my post above but I wanted to clarify that the background is the only thing done with the brush, the rest is done with a bamboo "quill" pen and sumi-e ink. (I know there is a no brush rule)
