Re: New Gorilla Drawing - WIP

You certainly know what you are doing with Fur the effect you are achieving is fantastic. I love the blue I can see in his arm.
Would you mind telling us the colours you are using in his fur -as you say the photo is not capturing his 'true' look?

Also, with regards the question about his facial expression, I like how you have his head tilted slightly and as such I think it would lend itself to a curious but straight on gaze at the viewer, as is depicted in one of your wonderful reference photo's. The more intelligent, contemplative side to their nature .

Can't wait to see your next progress .

It is fun watching this unfold. Nice sheen on the fur.

Your work on the fur is great and it describes the underlying muscles wonderfully. I will be looking out for your next update

awsome rendering of the fur ! we can really see the 'power' behind those muscles.

Re: New Gorilla Drawing - WIP

so I had a bit of a decision to make when it came to his head. The first gorilla piece I did, I wanted it to be more like this one, but it went in its own direction. That gorilla was angry. Since this one is more like how i wanted it to look from the start, I think i will go with angry face here as well...

A lot of layers going in
LOTS of back and forth from light to dark. Lots of burnishing with the lightest grey as well which is what the second to last photo shows
