Re: ~~~Watering Hole~~~ April, 2012
Hi all!
I'm looking forward to spending the day at home--I've had to go out and run errands every day this week! Just the usual to-do list for me, and while "art" is on my list every single day, I still haven't done any and just can't get motivated I did finish the cardigan I was crocheting, and I actually like it.
Azure,
We have clear skies today, but another storm coming in (which you are probably having today). We need the moisture, just wish the cold did not accompany it.
ML,
Oh My! Your poor DH!! I'll certainly pray for him. Hopefully the meds they put him on in the hospital will work on him FAST. Praying for you as well, pace yourself--there's lots on your plate right now.
Linda,
Boot camp indeed!! I would imagine this first week will be the hardest, once you get into the routine, you'll be fine.
Doug,
Your orchard plans sounds absolutely heavenly!! I've often thought that if I'd do 1 hour of hard labor in the house every day, I'd be in great shape.
to all -- wishing everyone a good day.

Re: ~~~Watering Hole~~~ April, 2012
Morning All,
OMG Mary Lou! Your poor hubby!! I was afraid of something like this, cause he had been sick way to long...You both, have my most heart felt prayers
Yeah Brenda, this storm is pretty cold..The hard rains did not hit till late yesterday afternoon, but the temps dropped about 15 degrees, just bam, it was cold and windy...The rains have been coming hard and heavy most of the night..again way to much, way to fast! And pouring as I speak!! My car port slab sits up about two inches and water is coming up over that! But my place sits up on a little hill, so run off is really good.. Getting lots of nice fresh snow up in the hills tho
...Ya know, its odd, but my Fibro is much better when it colder and damp, its the dry heat that gets me
Linda, ahhhh, how well I remember all the "points" ... Lucky you on the small class...We had six bays and three people to each one, but we did each have our own counter space for the small mixers and supply's. Also because we didn't have another class behind us, we had locking drawers that we could keep our own personal supply's in..
...You know, even as hard as it was,(kinda like going from the miner's to the big leagues), this is not a easy thing to do!... But that was one of the best times of my life!
Doug, adding berry's into the mix, sounds great..now set up some honey bee hives and sit back and enjoy
Hay JayJay, Shirl, Kay and Ona, haven't heard from y'all in a while..hope alls well with you
Better go for now...Take Care and make it a Happy one!

Re: ~~~Watering Hole~~~ April, 2012
 Afternoon, everyone
The cherries and plums are in. We are expecting 6 nut trees to arrive in the next week and the berries should arrive about the same time. Local nurseries aren't carrying much in the way of nuts. Should get the service berry planted after work today and mark where the rest of the trees go as well.
I got the proof print (and ny original) for the tiles yesterday afternoon and approve them going ahead with printing. Should have them back early next week. I'll have the image files then as well. Christmas is a little more than half done now
Linda, hope you survive boot camp!
Azure, I have 4 hives worth of bees arriving on 4/28. Since I lost everything last year, I'm starting over but this time they will have flowering trees/shrubs next year. I need to get the orchard and veggie stuff under control so I can work on my part of the garden (flowers).
Brenda, an hour a day of digging will definitely get you into shape.
ML, Hope DH starts feeling better soon. Hospital stays aren't fun and could cause more weight loss (depending on the food quality).

awwwwwwwww..... how sweet!
Thanks for all the good thoughts for DH - looks like he'll be held hostage until Saturday, and there's a good chance I may be making the trip to AZ by myself!!
Keep blasting the white light so he feels good enough to go with me....
I'm hope for just a bit, and going back to the hospital. I have to go to Ikea tomorrow to pick up the cabinets, Home Depot, bank, etc....and get everything ready for the trip... yikes!!!

Re: ~~~Watering Hole~~~ April, 2012
Hi everyone! Been busy sorting out the decoration of the inside of my caravan, not had time to call in, other than post to my poppies thread.
Very cold here overnight, more ground frost... I have two shrubs to plant, but don't know if they will survive!
Mary Lou - sending lots of prayers and healing thoughts for your DH.
Linda,
That sounds very military!
Doug,
love the work you're putting into that garden. If I could just do one hour a day... the weather puts me off at the moment, typical British spring, sunshine one moment, rain and even hail the next...
to everyone else - have a good day!

Re: ~~~Watering Hole~~~ April, 2012
I woke to a very gray, cold, windy, rainy morning. We need the water, so I'm perfectly okay with this gloomy day.
My granddaughter, Katie, continues to do extremely well. She had chemo #8 yesterday and a full evaluation by her oncologist. She is not exhibiting ANY side effects, the doctor is amazed! Over the next 10 weeks, she will only have 5 chemo infusions and then she'll be DONE! The doctor also gave approval for them to come to CA in June as they'd planned. We are all so very thankful for the prayers said for Katie.
Still no art from me I've never had such a long art block!!
Azure,
Yep, we DID get your yesterday storm today! Glad you are on a little bit of "high ground." We are too, so even when there's flooding, we are okay. When we lived in CH we were on the top of a hill, so we never had to worry about the swollen creeks/rivers during rainy season.
Doug,
I would get NO work done during the spring if I worked in your building! Those owlets are absolutely ADORABLE!! Thank you so much for sharing photos with us!!!
ML,
If your DH can't go with you, is there anyone else who could? I would go with you, but I really can't miss any more Mon night classes this semester. I really don't think it'd be a good idea for your DH to go even if he's released.
Linda,
JayJay,
Our springs can be unpredictable too -- especially this year! VERY drastic temperature changes. I hope you don't lose any of your new plants to the frost
Wishing everyone a very good day -- I'm wondering if I fill my water bucket I'll be motivated to throw some paint?

Re: ~~~Watering Hole~~~ April, 2012
Morning All,
Well JayJay, even tho you live in England and I'm in Calif, we could be living next door to each other!! Rain(lots of rain), hail, thunder, more rain and hail mixed, then back to steady hard rain. Repeat all night and again pouring as I speak today...We are having our winter rains(that we didn't get) for Spring But we are still behind for the hot summer yet to come..
Mary Lou, Happy your hubby is getting good treatment at the hospital, and getting better ..I know hospitals are not any fun, but he should stay till the meds have a good hold on him...Pneumonia can be really tricky..You may feel good, mainly because you were so sick to begin with, that you get up and about and over do...So even if they do let him out on Sat, he should Not be doing Anything!!..And for a guy,.. you know thats not gonna happen ...Big prayers still going on for you both
..I hate to think of you doing the AZ trip by yourself...Any friend or neighbor that could go with you?
Doug, those Owls are so darn cute!! And that all four have made it this far...that is really something!..
..Can I ask what you mean by "service berry" plants? What are they and can you eat them? or just for the animals to nibble on?
Hay Linda, what's Cooking sweetie
Well I better go for now, don't know weather to go take my shower or go build a Ark
Big wave at Brenda, Shirl and Ona!

Re: ~~~Watering Hole~~~ April, 2012
Good afternoon, everyone. Waiting for some tests to run so have some time to check in. Hope all are well and going to do something fun for the weekend.
Azure, serviceberry is native all over North America and are edible. Most are bland tasting. We are planting one bred in Canada for flavor. They don't mind our alkaline, clay soil. The genus is Amelanchier. The variety we got is Regency. They make a nice, large shrub and provide habitat for animals and birds as well as something edible for us.
Brenda, I tend to go for too many walks to spot the babies. Fortunately, they aren't as easily seen today as some other days. I have too much to do to have extra distractions.
JayJay, the weather here has been TOO good. We got a little bit of rain two nights ago but not enough for how warm it is. This weekend is supposed to be cold and wet. I can hope.

Re: ~~~Watering Hole~~~ April, 2012
hi kids...
quick check in - been a long day... unloaded DH's van of all the work tools, ladders, etc. went to the hospital, then went to ikea to pick up the kitchen cabinets, home depot for the backsplash... doing laundry right now... I'm exhausted... tomorrow I have to load the van for travel...
It's too late to find someone to go with me, so I'll either go solo or DH will go depending on how he feels. Doc said DH could go to AZ as long as he didn't do anything. Yeah, right.
Not only does he have pneumonia, he has copd - and is officially quit smoking, and I'm quitting with him. I will kick his royal behind if he ever has another smoke. He's on board with this tho - he told me to get rid of all the cigarettes and ashtrays, so it scared the hell out of him.. rightly so. Cardiologist says his heart is good, but overworked...
Anyway, I'll try to check in tomorrow, but if not, will check in periodically during the next week...
Thanks for all the good thoughts and prayers - we need them!

Re: ~~~Watering Hole~~~ April, 2012
wow, where is everyone??
DH is home - yippeee!! It's been a long day, but they cut him loose at around 11:30 this morning. We already have oxygen set up in the house, and he is definitely going to AZ tomorrow; they set us up with travel tanks, and already have arrangements for them in AZ too. I swear, Apria Health Care is on top of things! They've called 3 times today, the setup was ON TIME, and they are going to call again Monday after we're in AZ... I'm impressed.
DH is feeling much much better, but weak, which is expected. He's being good - no cigarettes - and me too!
Our painter postponed until Monday - that's a good thing! We were going to have to meet him at 2pm tomorrow, which meant leaving for AZ EARLY. Now he won't be there until 10am Monday, so we can leave at our leisure tomorrow....
Anyway, wanted to check in and send Love & Hugs -
Mary Lou

Re: ~~~Watering Hole~~~ April, 2012
Morning Everyone,
Mary Lou, So Happy your hubby is home from the hospital ing and doing the little bunny dance!... Really sorry to hear about the COPD tho...But in giving up the cigarettes, you two will feel so much better in a few months, you won't believe it!! Will he always have to do the extra oxyen? or just till he get his health back? My neighbor on the other side of me has Apri Health and they are here in the park allot, everyone has very nice things to say about them!
...But get this..she has COPD pretty hard and she still smokes!! But at least she comes out on the car port or front deck..They all(3-5 people) smoke over there and when my front door is open and they all are setting on their carport, I can smell it in my house....Really dose not bother me that much, nor makes me want one, but makes me have sneezing fit's now
I hope you can talk to us while in AZ, and let us know how you both are, but just in case, Don't You over do it!! Please Try to find some help even if you have to hire it!!
Linda, happy you are having fun with your cooking school...but you have classes on Saturday's?? .. We had our weekends free. We could go in on Saturdays for exta credit, but had a different teacher, so most of us would stay home and make things to take for class for show, tell and taste
Well our wet weather has stopped and now drying out, but yesterday when the sun popped out, it went from low 30's to 70's in a heartbeat...and I was still dressed for cold
Hi Doug, hope you are not working to hard in the garden...You are giving me "the itch"..darn it...You stop it right now!
Hi Brenda, Shirl, Kay and JayJay Hope everyone has a great Sunday!!

Re: ~~~Watering Hole~~~ April, 2012
Morning everyone. Spring is back (it is cold and windy) and we got enough rain to actually do some good. Azure no garden work today, it's too muddy.
Linda, hope you have fun with your homework.
ML, good the DH is home. Hope he can put off needing supplemental O2 all the time. Its a nuisance but better than the alternative.
I'm hoping I can get some art time in today but also have indoors chores that pile up while the weather was extra nice.

Re: ~~~Watering Hole~~~ April, 2012
Austin's mom called right after my last post to ask if I could have him early, as in Thurs instead of Fri. So we've had the little guy since noon on Thurs.
I've gotten through my to-do lists all week and am so happy
I have not done any art
I've finished a big crochet project and started another fairly big one that I'm just about 1/2 way through
I have a favor to ask. . .I have to see a specialist next week due to some questionable results on a medical test I had done. I don't want to ask for prayers at church because I don't want to risk someone asking about it on FB where my relatives could find out and then ask my mom (who does NOT need to know anything right now). As you all know, I firmly believe in prayer and so am asking for prayer from those of you who pray. Thanks
Mary Lou is on the road (she posted on FB this morning that they were leaving). I will keep you all up-to-date with anything she posts there. I think she's like me, it's easy to post on FB with our phones but not so easy to post on WC.
Azure,
Hey, when the next storm hits, can you direct it east instead of south? Wowzie, we got hammered Fri and yesterday with freezing temps, rain, snow, and heavy wind!! We did not get snow at our house, but it is down pretty low on the San Gabriels to the south of us and the Tehachapis to the north. There was a very light dusting on our hills and DH actually went hiking yesterday afternoon-- it was much too cold for me and I was already feeling the fibro pain without being OUT in the cold stuff!!
Linda,
It warmed my heart to hear that you had a cooking school "social!" I'm so glad you are enjoying not just the class, but the people in the class!!
Doug,
I hope the inclement weather isn't disturbing your new plants?
Wishing everyone a very good rest-of-the-weekend!!
