Lens question.

So I was noticing that when I focus either of my zoom lenses on distant trees far away (in manual or auto focus) that there is still room to turn the fucus ring on the lens further. Is there something further than infinity? I never noticed this on my previous cameras.

Nikon D5100 18-55 and 55-300 DX ZR lenses.
Thanks!

Re: Lens question.

Does your lens itself have an automatic focus switch? Even in full manual some lens will still focus for you unless the switch is turned to manual focus.

Re: Lens question.

The lens has a internal motor for focus with a Auto/Manual switch.

Re: Lens question.

I have been told that it is quite common for focus rings on the autofocus lenses to turn beyond the infinity position. I understand that the focus itself does not extend past this point, it is sort of a built-in safety zone so the motor does not "crash" into a fixed end point at infinity.
