Re: APRIL Watermedia Challenge: Glass or Reflections

thats what happens with blinders on

Very well done! And oh-my-YES, you sure did use some blues -- very effectively.

Bonnie, such a great looking shoe. Definitely shiny at all the right places. Very nice vase painting too. How did you get the white lines? Did you use masking fluid? You fleshed out such a complicated pattern simply yet so effectively.
Kate, thank you for the beautiful photos. Today I gave one a try.
Daniel Smith watercolor
Neocolor II and wash
Some colored pencil but for this type of painting, wash is prettier.
Michael's cheap 90 lb watercolor paper 9x12 inch

Re: APRIL Watermedia Challenge: Glass or Reflections
Nice glass bottles and balls, Sandra! I did try this one, too, but was a disaster so gave up, so am glad yours turned out well.
Here is mine, 15x22 watercolor on Saunders 140 lb cold press paper, Daniel Smith paints. This little scene is my fake stained glass studio windows, a glass imitation kit from Wally World; the leading is plastic. There are china birds as well as glass ones, and the bouquet was real. I've painted this fake glass before so thought you all would enjoy seeing it (the pros say they can't tell any difference) for our glass challenge.

Re: APRIL Watermedia Challenge: Glass or Reflections
Maryam, this tulips bouquet is such a nice and fresh bunch in its glass vase. I prefer white backgrounds myself for florals so would not touch it. It's really lovely! You might try adding a little darker value green within the leaves as they are pretty much the same mid-value.

Re: APRIL Watermedia Challenge: Glass or Reflections
Hi all this is my first time here on this forum. I usually spend most of my time on WC at WDE. I have recently started looking in other forums for the monthly challenge. I was tempted this month by your great images here Kaye. Thanks for posting all these and thanks for hosting this challenge. I snagged this beautiful image and drew it out a couple of weeks ago but only got around to painting yesterday.
This is 90% finished - I thought I should post before the month was out
Always learning and experimenting - I would like to paint a lot more freely than this but it is hard to get out of the rut. This is watercololur over gesso on canvas - salt for texture in the background. I can't believe how long this took to dry - left overnight and had to use a hairdryer this morning before I could brush the salt off.

Ros, this is gorgeous!!! I recognize my dining room, LOL! It all looks so soft and you did the reflections so effortlessly in its beveled mirror. Hope to see more of your work here in this forum.

Re: APRIL Watermedia Challenge: Glass or Reflections
Thanks so much Kaye. I'll be back.
BTW I love your work - you always seem to paint wonderful colourful images and your colours are clear and vivid - something I have always struggled with.
