'The Gray Cup'
The first place trophy at the Steveston Grand Prix of Art this year has been rededicated as the 'Gray Cup' after D. F. Gray, the inagural winner from 2010, for his dedication to plein air painting in British Columbia. The trophy is given to the winner of the plein air event modelled after the Grand Prix d' Art held in Qualicum Beach, to hold for a year, then the winner's name goes on the trophy which will be up for grabs the next year.
the cup is as large as my swollen head!

I put up an article about plein air resources in Houston and resources for finding meetup groups across the United States. The workshops are on the calendar and the article is here: http://www.wyetta.com/?p=167. Please let me know if you have anything to add! www.annasundrudtrang.blogspot.com

Re: Our Plein Air Shows, Awards, Workshops, Articles and Events
Wanted to get the word out: Announcing a pretty incredible plein air show/workshop April 12-15 in Vegas.
Lots of big names will be there, and it should be historically large (750 attendees), and tons of fun and learning. (Those two always go together, right? )
You can check it out at pleinairconvention.com
Definitely something worth checking out if you're a serious artist or just a plein air superfan.

Re: Our Plein Air Shows, Awards, Workshops, Articles and Events
Hello, I am a fairly new plein-air painter. I live in North Florida and am having a tough time starting my art career. I have noticed that there are several paint-outs in the area but they are invitational only and I don't have any idea how to get invited. They always seem to have the same artists.

Re: Our Plein Air Shows, Awards, Workshops, Articles and Events
I am pleased to be included in this year's Contemporary Masters III, Artistic Eden show at the Pasadena Museum of History in Pasadena, CA. The show started last Friday and will run through July 29th and includes such talented painters as Armand Cabrera, Jennifer McChristian, Jason Situ, Charles Meunch, and others. If you're in town its well worth a visit. Also on display are several original paintings by Sam Hyde Harris.

Re: Our Plein Air Shows, Awards, Workshops, Articles and Events
There's a plein air workshop coming up here in Syracuse, NY at the Everson Museum of Arts in June 9 + 10. It's being run by Sandra Fioramonti, she owns the Liverpool Arts Center where I'm taking a class. I like her a lot, she knows her stuff and is generous in her knowledge. Here's the info from the museum. Supplies will be provided, day two will be painting plein air, if it rains we will be in the butterfly garden in Liverpool.
