playtime doodles

Finally got my computers (2 of them) Working again, the hubbys is well again and I've finally finished rushing 2 of my fuzzies to the Vet emergency room. SO Maybe I can get down to painting again.
If these come out in the right order the first one is an original all me and the second one I was playing with some filters to soften it up a bit.

The last one I did in Real Water color in corel 12 but I wasn't happy with the way it turned out so I softened it up with a filter again.
All comments and critiques are ALWAYS welcome. THANKS!

Re: playtime doodles

Sounds like you have a lot going on there. Good that you have time to paint. These are lovely.

I like the details of the first one, I think only the distant areas needed softening.

Re: playtime doodles

The first two are very much alike, but the strokes on the original are a bit more raw/distinct where your strokes a slightly too fuzzy/blurry. As for the rest it is very good with tons of wonderful colors.

Re: playtime doodles

I especially like the second one. That's a really nice watercolor effect. The trees could use a little tweaking but overall the painting is great.

I'm having a hard time with your format

I am new to this site, and find the format somewhat different from what I'm used to. I hope my stupidity won't be irritating to anyone. Just finding out how to post on a thread was very different here.
Anyway, I finally did get to post one. I'm Eve -- brand new to acrylic painting. I don't really know if I have any talent, certainly don't have as much as some of you people who I have seen on here displaying their work. It's rather intimidating! I'm more at home writing than painting.
But it is a hobby or interest I have had for a long time, so -- there is no time like the present!
I will learn as I go along.
I think I got signed up to do the Wet Canvas Skies -- but have not figured out how to watch the video as yet. I know, I know -- hopeless, aren't I?

Re: playtime doodles

Wow, they look amaizing, almost like from the intro video of a new war game!
I quite like using filters on photoshop, but can never really get them to look just right.

Well done, and keep up the good work

Re: playtime doodles

For me, an oil painter, the best of the three is the third one, because it looks more "painterly", less "digital" (even if being so): it is an excellent watercolor!

Re: playtime doodles

Thanks again! I'm really trying to go more painterly because my style has always been photo realism.

Re: playtime doodles

I definitely agree that the third one is the most painterly, and it's my favorite of the three.

The first one feels too "canned" to me. Mostly because I can readily spot many places, especially the tallest grass, where various clumps of grass across the image are identical and have been kind of stamped on over and over.

The second one is a lot better because the softening got rid of the repeated sharp details that made it easy to spot that it was digitally made. Although the lightening of the darkest values across the image kind of takes away any real center of focus. It needs some point of interest, like a coyote running across the image.

I like the interplay between the greens and blues of the third one, and especially the areas that look like multiple transparent washes overlapping.

Re: playtime doodles

Thanks for the ideas. I think I might try and add something to the second one to give it more focus. THANKS for the feedback!
