Re: Monthly CP Challenge - April 2012
Very Nice!! You have captured Mare and foal wonderfully Lorianne .
Would you do me a favour and choose a ref for me to do -I am lousy at making decisions. I did ask before but nobody noticed or maybe they thought I was joking?
Anyway -can you or someone please choose a ref for me to try, I think it would push me more if I dont have a say .
I am having a go at the eggs as I didn't get a choice made but I would like to do another one aswell .....eeny meeny miney mo......

Re: Monthly CP Challenge - April 2012
Do you know.....I did look at that one but as my main project is leaves I turned away from it. But I do love the reflections in the water -I'm not sure I would tackle that tree though, I think I might cut the image in half lengthways and concentrate on the foliage either side of the river.
I can't wait to see your version Lorianne
Thank you for choosing for me, as soon as I finish the eggs I will have a go at the river .

Re: Monthly CP Challenge - April 2012
OK because I have very little experience with CP's -I am currently on my 4th piece (including this one!) I am posting my egg contribution as a WIP, I could really do with the guidance please.
Anyway this is from a reference by Mustcreate -
The Indigo blue has not shown up very well but this is basically where I stand with it .

Re: Monthly CP Challenge - April 2012
Hi
Here is my attempt at the Pontiac. My last two pictures had foliage backgrounds so I thought I would try something different and extend the art deco look.
Polychromos on Stonehenge.
Great pictures from everyone else. I might also try the mare and foal as this would be something new to me.

Awww... I wished I had time for this month's challenge... I really want to draw the egg. Everyone's painings are really lovely.
Liz, I really like yours. The background is really well-done.
Ali, just keep going.

Thank you so much for acknowledging my existence Stephanie and I really appreciate your encouragement . I am going to do some more work on it tonight......I am just a little tentative.
Again thank you -I was beginning to think I was starting to fade away..

Ali, I don't usually venture in here to the monthly challenges but I wanted to come and have a nosy at what you were doing. My goodness girl you do like a challenge, the egg challenge is a real momma challenge. Even so you have started very well with it, I love the warm reflections you have captured. I can see I'll have to sneak back here more often.

Re: Monthly CP Challenge - April 2012
Thank you for being such a star Marie -when I read your comment it made me smile .
I chose the eggs because I figured I needed to learn more about colour and layering, I think I began my journey topsy-turvy by trying to achieve complete works of art before practicing with my CP's.
Also I now know I started way to big seeing as my three previous works have been A3 size each.
This egg one is only approx 5.5" x 7.5" -I am seriously hoping that I will find this more manageable and be able to produce results more quickly, we'll see .
Again Thank you -you are very supportive and I really appreciate it.
Hugs,
Ali

Re: Monthly CP Challenge - April 2012
OK heres an update of my eggs, I'm still being very tentative with applying the colour and also even though I adjusted the scan brightness and contrast it is still not showing all that I have done on this. It is very frustrating, especially as I know if my camera was working properly I would have a true photo to show you. Oh well! C'est La vie!
Here it is anyway-
Please let me know what you think even though this is a poor scan result .
Thanks Marie and Natashya for your kindness and support

Re: Monthly CP Challenge - April 2012
Ali--
relax. It's only paper. It's only pencil.
start playing with some cooler colors now-- what happens if you bring some purple into those yellow areas? What about a deep blue? Experiment with some test swatches. You're doing fine. Just ease up and and have fun with this. Part of the purpose of this exercise is to help everyone trust their instincts. Relax and trust yours.
Looking forward to seeing your next update!
