Re: Silk silk silk
Sigrun,
Good to see your silk work again. The scarves have such shine and luster. I really like the long rectangular format on the second set. Each is intriguing in that the essential symbol -- boat prow, spear -- done this way are abstract, modern. I admire how you continually bridge the past and the present.

Re: Silk silk silk
Hi Kanka and thank you for your comments. To answer your question, I did this work after practicing for 7 years, teaching myself new technique all the time while finding my own style. So at least it takes patience.
Here are the ones I have been working on this week ... screenprinting on silk with dyes and the third one is dyed using pole wrapping technique. Enjoy.
Cinnamon hearts silk chiffon over size shawl.
Cinnamon hearts with slightly less busy pattern
And the Hot Kaki

Re: Silk silk silk
Sailing past Sicily" WIP only needing to make border in silk dupioni.
Modus operandi: hand dyed silk charmuese, batik, dupont steamfix dyes. Hand stiched and quilted.
Inspiration is text written in Iceland in 12th century about Norwegian king Harald sailing past Sicily on his way to Turkey. There were few Icelanders in the Turkish Emperor Varangian Guards as well as Norwegians, Swedes and Danes.
