Ancient Greek song

I thought this was very interesting.

I happened to stumble over this ancient Greek verse and song, which was found on a grave dating to Hellenistic or Roman times (somewhere in the 200BC-100AD range). Notation and words were all written on the tombstone.


By the way: notice the epitaph at the end. It speaks of itself in first person, and addresses you (the reader) as if it is a person speaking. This is very typical for ancient Greek monuments and even inscriptions on everyday objects. For instance, a cup which was found in what was presumably Phidias's workshop has the inscription "I belong to Phidias"
