Re: Quick Dry Cafe, April 2012

Morning everyone. Thanks for all the kind wishes regarding my visit to the dentist. Must admit the night was long and very ouch but am feeling much much better today. At least the whole painful process is now over and the next pain will be facing the bill that will be arriving. Medical aid only pays a portion of this lot.

Elaine, girlfriend, you are so industrious making Easter cards. I have not even thought about Easter cards. Just trotted off this morning in lousy (no more swearing, I promise) weather and bought some nice Easter biscuits for my neighbour. Are you planning to draw or paint something? Not much time sweetie, so go for it. Hope you are now feeling much better.

Howard, thinking about you and your family and do hope that they will all be safe. I would love some of those tomatoes. One of my favourite foods. The tomatoes here come from hothouses in Holland , mainly and are absolutely tasteless. With a little imagination , some oil and vinegar, they taste slightly like tomatoes, I suppose. Going down to Bavaria on Friday and there you can really get super tomatoes at our local market. There a stall there and the chap brings stuff over from Italy. Can't wait.

Carol, I agree, men are pretty weird. Mine goes off on his bike when there is sleet and snow and thinks he is 25 years old - doesn't look in the mirror so how would he know! We have a weird one here as well. Guess who??

Maureen, we are having exactly the same weather here. It is bitterly cold, grey, some snow flakes, wind , the lot. Tired now of winter and longing for summer. Was spoiled with the gorgeous weather in South Africa.

Patti, any plans for another long trip? The last one and the photos were really great. I think we all enjoyed it vicariously.

Kathie, I'll bet you are being as industrious as ever with the old man away, and busy producing lots of new stuff. You really are very productive.

Ruthie, sweetie, tough one you are going through. Hard when they become independent. Warm sympathetic hug for you.

To all the rest of you who are still in the land of dreams (including RAYMO THE MAGNIFICENT) chat to you later.

Re: Quick Dry Cafe, April 2012

Morning all,

Raymo my man now you know I don't actually go to bed at 6:30pm..haha I just put my computer to sleep so it is nite nite for it! n you, silly weirdo!

Carol you are so right about men, some anyway, you met Larry so guess you got a small clue, the man is quiet, reserved and I'm the gusher....haha weird covers it...haha

Howard I hope that you got through to your family and everyone is fine.

Okay Shirl here's a big wave..haha Enjoy the Wednesday special..haha

Hi Chammi, well glad to hear it's done and I hope you feel way better this morning. The bills, yeah well they almost hurt worse then the work you have done. Wanted to make a bunch but settled for just a couple, this lovely older woman that sits behind me in church is such a delight, in her 90's and she amazes me, I'm not as agile as she is!...haha I really need to think about this way earlier tho...haha

Ruthie Big Hugs sweetie....they move out but they never really leave home, trust me you will be even closer then you could imagine.

Hi Patti, Mary, Maureen, purplefire1..and those yet to come.
Bright sunny day here, still little chilly but we're making progress.

Hope you have a wonderful day, tomorrow starts the two days I actually abandon the world for a bit, but I'll be back. Later then,

Hugs all round,
Elaine

Chammi we are getting everything prepared for our summer trip. Jon has been working on the motorhome and doing his usual worrying about everthing. Man drives me crazy sometimes. Next week we are taking a short 2-day trip over to the coast just to make sure the new tow bar is mounted correctly and the new Jeep tows ok. It will be the first time towing this one.

Howard I have a neighbor who is inundated with bell peppers... some ended up in my fridge.

Hi all. Nope, no tornados here, just heat coming on strong. In the 90s yesterday, and continuing all week, maybe all summer. My winter Texan visitors and friends have all headed back to Canada, so it's pretty quiet here. Just me and Pearl hanging out.

Figured you were far enough away to be safe Shirl.

My family was surrounded but not hit. So, all are safe and as sound as possible in my life. One relative had just had a roof finished yesterday morning so he just knew his place was gone, but, it was missed.

Re: Quick Dry Cafe, April 2012

We saw some pics of the tornado damage yesterday - horrific .. how frightening for everyone.

Our snow has disappeared I'm pleased to say - still very cold and horrid wind, but should get a bit better tomorrow. At least it's dry.
My poor tulips and daffs have been flattened.

Re: Quick Dry Cafe, April 2012

Thank goodness your are safe Shirl and coping.

Howard, what an awful experience for your family being surrounded by absolute chaos and no way to contain the power of these winds. I am so grateful that all your loved ones are safe.

Patti, that sounds super. Where are you actually going? We have decided categorically amongst the girls that men are weird. Yours too!!! Join the club. We are only doing a 9 hour trip to Bavaria (albeit on horrendous German Autobahns on Good Friday) but he had to make sure the stuff in the windscreen water was okay. Can you beat that!!!

Glad the snow has disappeared Maureen. Saw on the news that many areas without electricity. Were you also affected. Aren't you just sick of winter?
My heart aches for you. I know exactly what you mean. I was aware of Muffy for months after she died. I could feel her snuggling up to me when I watched TV and I also believed I could smell her. Not weird at all. I kept her one blanket and her toys for ages until the smell of her dissipated. Now that is weird. A very warm hug from me.

Going to watch a programme I love called Let's Dance. I am a passionate lover of the dance whatever form it takes and so enjoy this programme. I know they have something similar in the UK. I shall pop in afterwards.

Re: Quick Dry Cafe, April 2012

"Honey" I'm home!!

Got in last evening....so tired that I felt like crawling into the house... Stopped and got sonic before the house, 'cause I knew I was not cooking or going back out.

So enjoyed my 'second' spring....but my allergies are vicious! Between the plane, and the blooming, my head feels like it is being used as a conga drum, am coughing, sneezing, etc. I figured it would happen, after flying to Atlanta for Thanksgiving....but it is worse this time, probably because me and the oak tree pollen were fighting before I left. Oh well....this too shall pass.

Took a few photos...

My sister, me, brother and mom and dad in the front.

House finches at the feeder...

Daddy cardinal...

This little goldfinch was sitting on the top of a pine, just singing away...

I think the look is "No more peanuts and corn? then I guess I'll eat the birdseed!" There is a whole family that comes to dine.

And tons more birds, tho' they are camera shy...crows for the suet, wrens, mourning doves....so pretty!

Glad to be home tho' and back in a real bed....couches are ok, but not for a long time....

The portrait was a huge success! Tho' her kids and grandkids are "fighting" over who inherits it.... Should I tell them I could get prints?

Hi Sue,

We missed you and what a wonderful family photo! Sorry bout the allergies, they are worse this year for a lot of people, even here where everything is just trying to bloom. Just love the critter photos, cardinal one is a really a nice shot, would make a good painting..hint, hint..haha
And I was sure that portrait would be, just have their jaws dropping, what a delight, you must feel pleased and should. Heck yeah tell them can have prints, small fee wouldn't be a bad thing either. Just happy to hear you had a good time, cept for the couch and all, so go jump on that bed and snore a few....Hugs sweetie.

Re: Quick Dry Cafe, April 2012

Susan, so sorry about the allergy problem. Must be most unpleasant and exhausting. Your photos are great. Love that cheeky little squirrel with his gorgeous tail. How super that you were able to spend time with your family and to still have your Mum and Dad around. I miss mine so much. Hope you had a good night's sleep and are feeling a lot better. Hug.

Hi Maureen, hope things are better weather-wise in N. England. It has been pretty rough. Did you also have to go without electricity? I see on BBC news that the lines are working again. Must have played havoc with your garden. Time for summer I'd say. Not so good here in Hamburg either, touches of blue sky but bitterly cold and we are in for more bad weather tomorrow. Must get on with my packing. Leaving for Bavaria at 5 am tomorrow. Hugs.

Hi Handsome, sorry about the iPod. Hope you get it fixed soon. Now, now, temper temper

Re: Quick Dry Cafe, April 2012

Over use Raymo? - It needed a wee rest perhaps
You're up early!

Chammi - we're fine here thanks - just a bit further inland though they lost all communications and power - mobile phones still worked but roads etc blocked, lines down and snow quite deep.
Cold still, but bright and hardly any wind - makes a huge difference!
Enjoy Bavaria - should be warmer I hope

Back to my w/c border collie ............
