Studying Michelangelo's 'Moses'

This is on A3 size paper, with mostly charcoal pencil + some conte, and watercolor for background... Michelangelo's 'Moses', I consulted a reference in the Guist Gallery.

Wonderful contrast and love the line(texture) that you have kept. Gives this a presence.

Was your reference a study for the statue or the statue itself? Which ever it was it’s a great drawing

Kate... the association of 'nail' and 'head' made me laugh :P Its said that Michelangelo took a hammer to it when his creation won't 'speak' - I'm glad he changed his mind (or someone restrained him from using the hammer). But that's a mighty glare on him I must say. Thanks so much
