Being asked to do art that is not what you normally do...

My mother once asked me to paint something for her new bathroom decor. She wanted a seascape.

I hate seascapes. (That is, I have no interest in doing them; it's not my thing, although others do them well...)

Even worse, she had a particular image in mind. She wanted it to look "something like this one" and I was just so uninspired and she was so insistent that I finally just broke down and said, Fine, I'll make you a copy. (I of course suggested that she try to obtain the actual image, but no, she wanted something "with a personal touch")

Anyhow, NOT my finest hour... it looks like paint by numbers and basically is one... and needless to say, I didn't sign it because it wasn't really my work.

And it's still in her bathroom.

Urgh.

So Is it better to be a whore or a snob? I don't know.
