WDEMarch 30th: Salty Old Salt

I thought John looked nautical so I coupled him with the boat. As I was painting this the phrase 'Salty Old Salt of the Well Salty Sea' kept running through my head......
Oil on canvas board, 14 x 10 inches, two and a half hours.

Salty Old Salt of the Well Salty Sea....

I love this. As someone who has boated for many years, I have seen real guys just like your "salty old salt". I really like the way you coupled him with the nautical scene, which has a wonderful stormy mood about it.

Such rich color and bold strokes. You've captured the mood and his character perfectly. Really beautiful portrait Harry. So expressive.

Love it Harry, you caught his intensity and added a bit of poetry. The sunset and boat as a backdrop complete the story beautifully.

Beautiful portrait Harry. He does look weathered as an old salt would.
Lucky grand daughter you have - you can sing her sea chanteys along with Mother Goose ditties.
