Four still lives - my first post in here, I think...
Hi! I feel honored to share these sketches with all you talented people.
I'm more at the figure and portraiture end of things, and don't come here very often - which is my loss entirely, something I continue to re-realize as I look agape at the wonderful work on display. Thanks for the inspiration
These are all from last evening, painted between 6.00 to 9.30. All are on A3 size paper, and except for the papaya (which is in pastel) are painted/drawn in Gallery water-soluble crayons.
1. The Golden Papaya
2. Cookies round and square
3. Steggy dear - sketch of a beautiful, hand-size (made-in-China) clay model.
4. Form studies on fruits
Thanks for looking!

Hi Prosenjit...you are more than welcome to come in to still life any time you like!! I knew they would all be good, and I wasn't disappointed! I think those dinky bananas...are dinky...they make me smile! Your sketch of the papaya is great! But my favourite is the jars of cookies...beautifully drawn!

Oh... oh I see a familiar face in an unfamiliar territory Deirdre, thank you (so much) for making me feel at home And also for your kind and wise words. Normally, I avoid distraction and tend to work in isolation (with headphones on at times)... but for this four I was yakking away with a guest all the time. Seems like they evolved out of a deeper instinct that only practice can instill.
Hi Daniel, thank you for dropping by

Hi, Prosenjit! All of your sketches are wonderful..the papaya, the cookies, the dinosaur, and the bananas with the lemons and orange. I like the linear touch you have used to color and give form to all these subjects. Nice work!

I do like the sketchiness quality you apply to all your pieces, gives them a feel of movement and texture. Hope to see more of your work!

Hi Jose, thanks for dropping by I'm glad you said that, sometimes I do use the flat of the pastel to cover large areas or to 'blur' edges, but this kind of layered and hatched, optical mixing provides me with a wider range of hues and values to use, than a native set of hues from the box would allow.
Hey Sandra so great to see you here! Haha, you've given her/him a new name - Steggadino! Thanks so much!
Abu, so very kind of you

Hi Jonathan, thanks! The sense of movement is also the reason my shoulder hurts after an extended series of drawing/painting.

Re: Four still lives - my first post in here, I think...
These are great - I especially love the Stegosaurus! I have a plastic figure of one that looks very similar to yours, but I've never thought of drawing him before - assumed he wasn't 'proper' enough for a Still Life! But now I really want to draw him!
I've also just been looking at your website too, some beautiful works! I love the 'Oarsman of the Night 2' and 'Keya' your profile picture. You do a great variety of subjects, and are very talented. A pleasure looking through your work! Thank you so much for the inspiration!
