Little mermaid

I tried to draw a siren ripping a guy's head off but it ended up becoming a scene from the little mermaid XD

Main figure refs:
- Pieta by Michelangelo
- Air and Darkness by mjranum stock

Critiques are welcome

Re: Little mermaid

bertling, what a cute piece. Superb water foam and I see your mermaid is a crustacean. The girl looks good.

A word of caution. Be careful of copyright if you are using an image from a contemporary artist for basis.

Thanks!

If you're referring to mjranum stock / Marcus Ranum, he says his stock photos are free to use as long as we give him credit. And he's got quite a collection. It's one of the best sources of figure reference I could find anywhere online. So you guys should all check it out!! i highly recommend it!

Re: Little mermaid

I love this mermaid! I love how it's not a traditional mermaid but a crustacean mermaid -- I've never seen that before! The trailing of the seawater from the rock, and the rock itself, is very detailed and very well done and I LOVE how it aaaalmost looks like the clouds in the background, especially on the right hand side of the painting, are like eyes peering from the blackness! Love her hair too! I wish I could see more of her tail/caudal fin but not seeing the end of it in detail it adds to the mystery of who/what she is. Just beautiful!
