Re: March 2012 Watercolor Challenge - Taking a Break
Ok, I took the easy way out and just did the tuba. It seems to have a bit of a lean. Feel free to give me suggestions or ways to improve it. This was a toughy.

Re: March 2012 Watercolor Challenge - Taking a Break
Nice and brassy looking. Your drawing seems accurate & true to Yorkies photo but your tuba does have the feeling of leaning over. Maybe the diagonal curb is creating this effect. When I cover the curbing with my fingers I seem to feel an improvement.
Have fun, Dave

Re: March 2012 Watercolor Challenge - Taking a Break
Nicely painted brass Lorianne take a touch off the inner tube and bit more on the outer tube is all that is needed to stop the leaning.

Re: March 2012 Watercolor Challenge - Taking a Break
Thanks for the tips Les and Dave. I'll see what I can accomplish.
Hal I do feel more confident on brass or shiny things. I'm trying to do a watercolor sunflower with a glass vase. That vase is hard.

That's great - you really got the shine on the brass.
Maybe darken the grass background a little.
