Batik Painting - Bolivia
Hello
I am not sure if this is the right forum, I am new here, and this is my first Post. I am on a round the World Trip and expressing my impressions of the Countries I visit through my Batik Paintings. This is 'Bolivia'.
Thank you all for your precious comments, I find the community of Artists in WC of great inspiration.
Also, I am still inexperienced with WC, do you know how to subscribe to a Forum?

Re: Batik Painting - Bolivia
Thank you all very much for your comments, which are very encouraging for me, and your instructions too.
In batik technique melted wax is used as a resist so that the colour doesn't bleed on the fabric. Basically I do the drawing with wax and then I paint using the dyes. Or the dyeing can be done is several stages. When the wax is removed some beautiful effects comes up. It is difficult to travel and carry all the material, but it can be done.

I also like this piece very much. The way the hair of both figures works together gives good focus.
I am intrigued with how you are traveling and continuing to do your batik work!

Re: Batik Painting - Bolivia
Thank you all for your very comments, this is very encouraging for me. To reply to some of your comments , I have been travelling in warm countryies (I live in Scotland, and I have enough of cold weather at home), so I don't need heavy clothes. I bring with me only one book, which I read and then exchange with another one. Half of my rocksuck is filled with batik material. In new zealand I travelled on a campervan, and all camping sites have generally an plug in point, as the wax pot needs electricity. In Colombia I rented a flat, facing the sea, on the Caribe Coast, for a month; plenty of inspiration there. I am in Italy now, and have completed another work, commisioned by a friend. I ll post it after this message. I go on rural areas generally and the only downfall is that generally I don't have much access to internet and I would like to explore better all your works and posts. However I ll settle in Scotland soon, and hope to be more present on Wet Canvas. Thank you! Rosario.

What a fabulous way to commemorate your travels. I thought I had a hard time finding a lightweight sketchkit! I am a huge fan of batik and batik paintings, all my recent quilts have been nothing but. I have never tried my hand at it though. I will be looking forward to your future batik posts.
