Re: Getting back into sketching for me.

Thanks Jennifer, Fidgement, Rainy, John and Debby.

I have also been playing with some bird sketches...

The first 2 are gel pen

Then tried a couple of different version of a blackbird in charcoal and pen and wash. I have rediscovered how much I love using charcoal, but I have to go bigger than A5 with it.

Thanks for looking.

Wonderful birds. Like the penetrating look on the second ones eye.

Re: Getting back into sketching for me.

Excellent job on the bird sketches, Jacqui! Great job on capturing the beak and head structure, which is very tough at times. You might get hooked on birds as a subject, you know...!

Re: Getting back into sketching for me.

Thanks Debby

John that is a major compliment coming from the bird man himself. I was wondering what you were going to think of them.

great variety of birds! I like the eagle/hawk one and the one above him has great expression. Nice going with the one in charcoal. . . I can see why you like that medium.

Re: Getting back into sketching for me.

Lets see if this works now....

It has been a while since I posted anything here but thought I'd like to get back into it. And now I've found my camera again I can.

Some fountain pen and waterbrush sketches.
quick sketches of things around the room while taking a break from packing and moving

corner in the new lounge room, things still aren't in their final spots yet

Jasper has discovered the bean bag and likes to curl up inside it.

Tristan likes to stretch out on my desk and keep me company. He looked so gorgeous with his head rested on his arm like this. I did not do him justice as he moved as soon as he realised I was watching him.

Thanks for looking.

Great sketches. Glad you found time during your move. My favorite is the cat in the bean bag. Cute.

Re: Getting back into sketching for me.

The bean bag cat is my favourite as well, that looks so comfortable. The birds all look great, I really like the blackbird and the cardinal is instantly recognisable even without the telltale colour.

Re: Getting back into sketching for me.

Thanks Debby and Jennifer. Jasper loves that bean bag and he looks so adorable in there. The bean bag is huge, big enough for two people to sit on, so he gets totally lost in there. Would be so warm and cosy.

Re: Getting back into sketching for me.

Nice sketches of the new place, and the feline family members! Cats always have a knack for finding those cozy sleeping places, don't they?

Re: Getting back into sketching for me.

Thanks John. Jasper never looked twice at the beanbag at the old place, maybe cos its in a different more open space now he loves it. And its front of a window so he can just stretch up a bit and peek out.

Re: Getting back into sketching for me.

Still catching up with some of my cat sketches... sorry to bore you all But you all keep saying practice practice practice.

I broke in my new handmade watercolour sketchbook. The first is one I did for the scavenger hunt and then one is from John's inspirational pics. (thanks John).
