"Laika" (Space Doggity)

I thought perhaps some artists in this forum might appreciate this one. It is an acrylic painting entitled "Laika" inspired by Jonathan Coulton's song "Space Doggity".

I highly recommend listening to the song (and the rest of JoCo's songs) if you like fantasy and sci-fi!

If you don't listen to the song however, background: Laika was the first dog (and living being for that matter) in space, aboard Sputnik 2. She died up there. Jonathan Coulton is a musician who as part of a Song-Fu challenge wrote a song inspired by David Bowie's "Space Oddity". He chose Laika's story for his composition, in which Laika takes an imaginary dramatic space walk at the end of her life.

The dog looked so lost in the video. Poor thing. But this is a nice tribute to the dog. So the dog becames a space angel now.

I thought "Tori Amos" when I first read the title.

It's a beautiful piece that brings to mind Van Gogh, many thanks for sharing it with us.

Yes, I was thinking Van Gogh too. LOVE the deep, rich blues and the sharp contrast of the dog! Very nice!

Love the sense of movement from the style of painting and the placement of your objects. Nicely done.
