Re: March Challenge!
Linda I remember seeing that piece as well! Liked it then.. like it now.
Ron.. Two really nice works!!! I love how your colors get all blendy when you handle the shadows, very painterly.. (Ok.. Blendy is not a proper artsy word. I'm still learning terminology lol.. so it gives me free license of expression.. )
So were the new pastels a different brand or type? I like how you filled in the whole story of the building too. Then nestled it into the trees. Well done.
To answer your question.. Yes.. it did adhere. It was wonderfully glide-dy (another art term invented by me.. ;-)) And the paint stayed put. It also really is reflective. The painting kinda glows a bit.. I am going to do a few more little ones.. but I did like it.
Thanks Deg.. Jen.. Ron.. for the nice comments.. It helps keep the creative flowing..

Re: March Challenge!
Deb thanks for hosting! I've got one picked out, and saved some of the others to use as possible Two Feathers back grounds. I was just thinking, "I need some photos of the Southwest to use as reference photos for more Two Feathers paintings."
Thanks!
Donald
PS: I'll be sure and give you credit for the back ground photos if I use one.

Re: March Challenge!
Art supplies in the mail - it's like Christmas! Glad to see you're enjoying the new pastels, Ron! This is wonderful! This painting has great balance and harmony. Well done!
Great work, Larry! That cowboy had better hurry up! Great color, and sky is wonderful. The texture in the tree is excellent!

Great photo's, must try one this month...thank you for hosting. I have a question tho..... some of these photo's are just lovely as they are...can we not sort of copy and paint them as they are?

Re: March Challenge!
Winny, Of course, you can do whatever you want! I picked these photos because for the most part, they have the qualities that make good paintings.
So, paint away, however you want.
Larry, that may be my favorite one yet! Nice job! and don't worry about photo credit. that kind of thing doesn't matter to me much...
Ron. wow... what've you been drinking? Rocket fuel? That was fast work!
I like this one, especially how you created more of a "story" with the cabin...
very nice....

Re: March Challenge!
Larry- nice work! I like the sense of strong sunlight. And adding the rider was a cool thing to do.
Lola- really nice! I dont know why your not happy with it. Great job at braking everything into abstract shapes of different values. I think its a great first gouche
Managed to do another this evening. My wife already claimed it to hang in the kitchen since she is a tabasco fanatic
5 x 7, pastel on paper

Re: March Challenge!
Lola- this is probably my favorite of all your paintings- I love it! Really well done.
Ron- great job on that Tabasco! Adding the pepper made a better composition.

Re: March Challenge!
Thanks for the nice comments on my gouache, folks.
Ron, that Tabasco painting rocks! The pepper adds the right compositional touch.
