The greatest of Turner !

There are many very good British seascape painters. Have a look at the website of The Royal Society of Marine Painters.

Re: Master seascape artists

Last weekend i had the luck to meet germany´s most favourite marine artist Uwe Luetgen at the marine museum in Hamburg. I was in Hamburg because Roger Waters / Pink Floyd played the huge "The Wall" show in the O2 Arena there.
So i took the opportunity to be in Hamburg quite early to have time to visit the marine art dept. in the maritime museum. If one´s going to visit Hamburg, - have a look. It`s great.
So i had a chat with Uwe about his choice of images and especially about his way to paint the rigging.
He was just working on a 1910 yacht picture. Every saturday he is there for around two hrs. His site: http://www.uweluetgen.de
I really enjoyed it.
The reason why i didn´t post a marine painting for while is that i was busy with painting dogs, dog´s bones, dog´s walking faults and so on. The breeder lady where we got our australian shepherd from is writing a book about them and she wanted me to paint the images for it. So i did. And it took month´s now. But it´s finished now and i can go back to what i really like to paint.
So, - see you soon!

Re: Master seascape artists

Surprisingly I dont think these were mentioned:

Christopher Blossom click
Ruo Li www.ruoli.net
Michael Karas www.michaelbkaras.com
Frederick Judd Waugh http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Frederick_Judd_Waugh

Also check out www.americansocietyofmarineartists.com and you will find some great painters in their fellows gallery and signature members list.

Enjoy!

I would like to add my modest contribution: http://www.gilbertopiccinini.com/

Gilberto Piccinini is an Italian painter, maybe not very famous abroad but in my pinion he did some wonderful pieces, let me know what you think!

Cheers.

Re: Master seascape artists

Here is another accomplished marine painter for your review: Jack Coggins. He penned a very instructive book titled Marine Painter's Guide. His website http://www.jackcoggins.info/ (deceased at 94 years) contains a very large body of his work.

Re: Master seascape artists

Anne Packard

Grandaughter of Max Bohn (one of the early minimalists)

http://www.packardgallery.com/index....d=12&Itemid=14

If you are talking the essence of the beach, sky and water..... the 'you are there' feeling of being on Cape Cod, then yes one of the current best living artists. (if you are talking about obsessively painting every line in a wave, then no.

Goggle her name and the word 'prints' to see more of her work.

Critically acclaimed and hauling down 5 figures for her paintings.
