Newbie to Sculpture Forum

Good morning!

I used to haunt the oil painting and pastel forums but have recently been doing some sculpture as part of my college courses. (This past fall I finally got up the nerve to officially go back to school to achieve my Bachelor of Fine Arts ).

Here is a sculpture I did last semester with the objective to use the hand as part of your final work.

Look forward to learning from you all.

Have a wonderful Wednesday

Re: Newbie to Sculpture Forum

Welcome to the sculpture forum. That looks like paper mache. I've seen some nice sculptures made with that material. Looks like the hand is holding a nest with some bird eggs in it. Hope I'm right on that. Glad you are getting into sculpting!

Re: Newbie to Sculpture Forum

Hi, thanks! Actually, the hand was a plaster cast, I created the nest using japanese papers, molding paste and some soft gel. The eggs I created using newspaper as a base then built up using paper and gel medium. It was a process but rewarding in the end. :P

I'm new too, welcome :-) I'll probably be hanging out in here and in Pen & ink.
