Re: Your Favorite Portrait work from 2011

Well my previous posting on this thread disappeared, so here it is again. This started off as a painting from life, which I then finished by reference to photos and a touch of imagination. Soft pastels on sennelier pastel card.

This is my favourite from last year as I feel I pushed forwards a little (thank you, Harley ) and I genuinely feel this looks much better in real life. However, no doubt I'll be wanting to rip it from its frame and redo it in the near future .

My good neighbour Bert, from a snapshot I took while he enjoyed a tea break. A first class builder, Bert appreciated the irony of the leaning verticals!

All above are beautiful in their individual way. Amazing Really.
I haven't done much this year, but like my copy of Fechin's Indian Girl for the October Portrait Challenge because I kept it loose and quick.

Re: Your Favorite Portrait work from 2011

OMG I'm not sure I deserve to post amongst such amazing pieces. I started painting in mid 2011. I couldn't really decide between the two so I'll put them both up:

Re: Your Favorite Portrait work from 2011

This is my second favourite. It was a surprise for a wedding from old photos from the parents in two different towns. I tried to find images that fit into the same age differential from years past. Although they lived in different countries and had never met until a couple years before their wedding, I wanted something that retained their present day look and relationship.
It was a job trying to find photos that were looking at the camera since most professional photos were facing different directions.
It's done in acrylic. JonC.

Re: Your Favorite Portrait work from 2011

This 24"X36" Oil portrait of my friend and her pets was painted as a surprise for her.

After looking at this I think I may have posted wrongly as a reply. I hope this hasn't caused a problem.
