Johannes, any idea when they will be putting up the latest painting of the water fall? I missed the last half of that demo.

Do you mean the video? I have submitted the tree course and water course to Northlight already. I expect it all to be up by the first week of January.

Re: Essentials of Painting Water-Discussion Thread
Every time I look at Jo's painting demos I say to myself "what a beautiful painting". I also remind myself that he has spent years developing his talent and those years are reflected in his paintings. We can try shortcuts but there is no substitute for hands-on practice and developing our own talents toward the personal satisfaction we get when we have those "ahhhh haaa!" moments of discovery. There is no one painting session or book that gives us all the answers but there are trickles of information we gather along our way when we practice, read, watch, and then apply what we've learned. When I finished Jo's free Painting Landscapes from Photographs course and again viewed the purchased videos of it, I had one of those moments myself when the little painting I finished showed depth and light in its tonal values of a beach scene which I'd never before captured in oil.

Thanks for the compliment but I wish I had the talent. The only thing I was good at was knowing if a shape was good looking or not or I had a sense of esthetics. The rest was working hard to get the techniques.

Re: Essentials of Painting Water-Discussion Thread
Jo, your talents are revealed in the way of teaching what you 'know' and are willing to share. I said before what a very good teacher you are and continue to be to me. That is also reflected by your other students who have grown with your teaching. I imagine you leave yourself open to the wide criticism so very prevalent in these times. As to art, there are those not seeing who will never see, and some unhearing continue to grope for their reality. The beauty of your work is there to see and your teaching is like gold for those of us who do hear and continue to paint with those words of wisdom guiding us. Bless you in the New Year!

I am concerned that we have not heard from our Robert in such a long while and hope that he is OK.
