Chalk Cliffs study WIP (x-post)

Chalk Cliffs on Rügen by Caspar David Friedrich
I've always liked this particular artist painting and I decided to copy it, to challenge myself. Human figures are not something I have drawn before (well, once) and I already dread the trees and the cliffs

first sketch

first patches of colour

more progress

I should have used a grid, I messed up the composition. But I decided to go with it as it is. I use FC Polychromos in a Moleskine sketchbook, 160gr paper, Din A4 (8.3 × 11.7")
C&C are welcome! I x-posted this in the Coloured Pencil forum.

Thank you and you remind me that I really need to do some more work on this, it has been sitting on the back burner for a while now.
