Jocco I find your concept quit interesting, and I totally get the part about the plane of that reflection. There is one thing that seems at odds with the excellent work in Bryce (but I'm having difficulty singling it out). May be it is the set of his jaw or the shifting of emphasis from his right eye to the left?
I don't quite know. In the Bryce image he is drawn to (or at least comfortable with,) the light.
In the painting, to me, he seems to be recoiling from the light drawing his hand away. Perhaps if he were a bit more open mouthed or the eyes more focused on the light. Like I said ,I don't quite know why he seems to be pulling his hand away. Can you see what I mean, or am I overly comparing the painting with the Bryce image ?
I like the painting very much. Just nit picking.................(don't you just hate it when people do that!?!)
