Re: Golden Aspens
Love the color choices and rendering - tree bark is fabulous. IMHO, the grasses need some darks to seperate them a bit from each other and "ground them - the foliage at the base of the trees seem to be floating a bit and need to be anchored. I love the subconcious path you left for the viewer to be drawn all the way through to the water - overall great piece

Re: Golden Aspens
What is the size of this?
Love the colors, and overall upbeat feeling I get. I feel like it would work really nicely as a big piece, focal point. In my front hall...

Re: Golden Aspens
It's a beautiful work, and I'm a little reluctant to make suggestions for something that's clearly such a personal vision of the landscape, but here's two you might consider depending on what you're trying to do with the image:
First, I think the block of green trees in the background on the left creates a strong horizontal movement which competes too strongly with the lake for attention. Perhaps turning it into a hill which rises off the left side of the image and maybe removing the tree at the right edge of it could solve that.
Second, you might consider putting subtle contour lines on the trees in front if you wanted to create a greater feeling of depth. These would probably be strongest at the base of the tree, thinning out and disappearing completely as you go up. Doesn't have to be much, just enough to create separation between the tree and the background.

Re: Golden Aspens
Large enough!
I see what bob was saying about the green trees on the left back, but it didn't other me, with the badda bing colors of the focal trees.
Zena, I'm a "starving artist" , with no money to purchase such a colorful, perfect piece as yours. BUT if you ever want to trade a painting, let me know! I haven't done much as lovely as this, but I'll get there!

Thankyou so much Sally! Well,it is an abstract landscape so i don't want to get too technical with it but i see his point! I think just shades of green would make the trees in front stand out much better.I will make some changes but i have to finish a commission first,a boxer portrait.
I'd love to do a swap with you Sally! I have done that in other painting forums and it's really nice to get a piece of art from another artist.
I know times are tough, things have really slowed down for me too.People just don't have the money or want to put it out on art.
Your art is gorgeous that i see below your post! Do you have a site ?
Private message me and we can email each other.Hugz,Jan

Re: Golden Aspens
It has kind of an upfront effect, because there's no aerial perspective (colors far away are just as strong as on the foreground), but that also gives a lovely otherworldniness to it. It's kind of natural and unnatural at the same time, and that's a great thing to achieve.
