art schools in montreal?

anyone know of any good (english) art schools in montreal? i am interested in going to school in that city next year, but i want to get some feedback on schools first. ideally, i would like to go to a school that has lots of variety as to what you can take, and preferably a general study first year so that i can dabble around in things and decide what i want to do. my problem is that i have too many artistic interests and i want to experiment a little before commiting to anything. also, if not montreal, what about the rest of canada? i have been looking at acad (alberta college of art and design) in calgary here, but i would like to go to montreal more than stay here.... any info would be great!

Well. that's where I'm right now. (sitting in the computer lab) We have a lot of people from all over, who think this is a really great school. There are so many different things you can do, and to try (and if you take beginner photography you dont have to actually own you own camera ) Its in down-town historic halifax, in these crazy old buildings. The teachers and faculty seam really nice, and the students seam really friendly too. There are lots of scholarships and stuff you can apply for when you come to help aid with your finances. Halifax isnt a huge city, but its nice, and at the pub here on wednesdays they sell really cheep booze to students. But anyways. I'm sure that has convinced you to come here.... lol

Have you looked on the internet for some schools in quebec? I'm sure there has to be a couple. Just go on google.com and put in canadian art schools, or something like that. They may have some great design schools there, and quebec is bi-ingual anyways, would you have to actually speak french to attend?

no, montreal is a bilingual city. they have both french and english schools, and a lot that are both.

i have been to halifax and remember it being a cool city... and i have come across NSCAD, but i couldn't seem to get to their website. do they have one?

I'm not sure what it's called... hmm... if I can just remember! I think it hs Old Montreal in the name... I can't remember, if the name pops back into my head I'll tell you.

Hey, I go to this great art school called Creative Boost located in downtown Montreal. It offers classes in painting, drawing, photography, pottery, sculpture, ceramics, and video. It's an awesome loft space with beautiful windows and tons of light. Check it out at creativeboost.ca.

My daughter is taking painting lessons at Lambda School of Music and Fine Artsin Pierrefonds.

I love their painting teacher - she is so kind and outstanding. I cannot believe how she inspired my child, and later I take lessons there as well.

Concordia University (for a Bachelor of Arts degree course)
