READ HERE FIRST - FAQs +Guidelines!
Welcome to the Fantasy/Sci-Fi Forum! A fun place that's just a little bit beyond reality, and the artwork is out of this world! Since the Fantasy/Sci-Fi Forum is a subject-based forum, ALL mediums are welcome here. Just be sure to include the size and medium used when you post your work. Background information on your posted piece is also highly encouraged.
What fits in this forum?
Questions always arise as to what subject matter fits in this forum. First, there's the obvious (dragons, elves, mermaids, zombies, vampires, spaceships, aliens, and robots), but other subjects fit in nicely, too. Anthropomorphic art is allowed, and works based on mythology, gods and goddesses, legends, and folklore may also be posted. Oh, and don't be surprised if there's a Big Foot sighting or two. For an Elvis sighting though, you'll have to go to another forum… unless, of course, he's carrying a light saber or a taser gun.
Please note that in order to keep this forum on topic abstract or surreal works of art do not qualify unless it has recognizable fantasy or sci-fi elements (dragons, fairies, aliens, etc.) within it. Thanks for understanding.
Fantasy/Sci-Fi Library
This subforum contains references and links to useful information regarding the genre (books, websites, forum threads, etc). It also contains the forum's WIPs and galleries containing artwork submitted by forum members.
Challenges and Projects
This subforum holds links to the forum's past projects. Participation in older projects is always welcome as long as the thread is still open.
Chat in the Tavern Threads
The Tavern threads (sticky at the top of the forum) are a great way to get to know one another better, a place where newcomers can introduce themselves, and where everyone can just say hi and relax. Anything pretty-much goes in the Tavern! This is a place where we can talk about our life, talk about fantasy/sci-fi subjects (or not!), and keep each other posted on the work we are doing on the rest of the site. No one is ever obligated to stick to one topic or discussion. So come on in!
Comics, Anime, & Fanart
Comic/manga and cartoon/anime characters are allowed in this forum as long as they are fantasy or sci-fi related (i.e. superpowers, mutations, non-human, etc), but all artwork posted must be your own work and cannot violate any copyright laws. In other words, do not draw directly from an image, screen shot, or comic panel and post it on WetCanvas!
WetCanvas! User Agreement
If you have not read the site's user agreement, it is highly recommended that you do so. WetCanvas! strives to be an educational, friendly, and supportive place where members can chat, learn, and post their artwork (for critiques or not) in a safe and comfortable atmosphere. Using the forums or the private messaging system to post any form of spam or to harass other members is not tolerated. Please note that WetCanvas! does not allow the posting of copyrighted works or images. All work posted must be your own work. Click here for the user agreement. A refresher course is always good, too.
Reporting a Post
If you see a post that needs the attention of a moderator, click the little report post button (triangle) in the top right corner of the post. This can be for reporting spam, obscene or harassing posts, or even a forgotten butt icon (for nudity or possibly offensive content).
Upload & Attachment Features
When uploading images to WC!, please use the upload or file attachment features. The reason for this is if your website ever goes down or the images are removed from your site, they will no longer show up in the thread, rendering the thread (or post) and its comments useless. The size limit allowed for images on WetCanvas! is 600 by 500 pixels. Any images posted that are larger than the 600 high by 500 wide pixel limit make viewing threads frustrating for members with slower internet connections because the larger images take longer to load. Also, people using an 800 by 600 screen resolution (or even higher) will have to scroll to the right to see the image, and then, they will only be able see part of it. Please help keep WC! user-friendly by using these features.

Merit & Mentor Buttons
A frequently asked question on WC! is, "What are the merit and mentor buttons for?" These are a fun way to earn virtual ribbons and badges here on WC! Click on the following links for more information.

How To Post Full-sized Attached Images In-line
We know a lot of the traffic has been down because you all have been having problems uploading images.
Unfortunately, the moderator staff is just as clueless as the regular membership on how and when this will be fixed.
But! Here is a solution to get your Attached Images to show up within the body of your posts where you can then write your message above or below your image
(like you used to do when using the Image Uploader).

When you are writing your post, above the window where you type there is an icon that looks like a paper clip. This is the image attachment button. Yes, you can scroll further down on the posting page to the "Attach Files" section and "Manage Attachments," but don't bother. Clicking on the paper clip button opens up the "Manage Attachments" window.
So, after you click on the paper clip button, as I said, you are presented with the "Manage Attachments" window. You can browse to up to five different images on your computer, selecting the images you want to upload. After they have been selected, you click on the "Upload" button. Wait while the images upload. When it is done it will display the name(s) of the image(s) in the "Current Attachments" window of the "Manage Attachments" window. Note that you can only upload a maximum of five images per post. Now, close the "Manage Attachments" window.
Back in your post, type what you want to type and position your cursor on the line where you want your image(s) to go. Now click on the paperclip again and a drop-down menu will appear with the names of the images that you uploaded. You can click on just one to insert it into your post, or you can select the "Insert All" at the bottom of that menu to put them all in your post. It will insert a code line(s) like this into your post - [ ATTACH]410718[/ATTACH]
That bit of code is your image, but you can see that it doesn't easily identify which one it is. Well, I guess you can't have everything. You can cut and paste that code on different lines, if you wish, or add blank lines between the code lines to give more space between your images. If you preview your post you should see your images full-size in your post. Once you are done, submit your new thread and you should be good to go.
By the way, if you attach an image but don't use the method above to display the image in-line, the image will still show up at the bottom of your post as either a thumbnail (if the system is working correctly) or as a link to the full-sized image. If you attached an image and then decide that you do not want it to appear in your post in any manner, while writing your post, scroll down to the "Attach Files" menu and click on "Manage Attachments." Click on the "Remove" button next to the image you want to remove, and presto! - it's gone. Close the window and finish up your post. You can also do this when editing a post, within the usual time limit for editing.
