In the Cafe Guerbois last night...for chat.
Just a note: I really enjoyed seeing everyone in the Cafe last night. Some newbies...and the regular gang. Talked a little about a lot of things.
I do want to tell Rebecca that I enjoyed talking with you...thank you for sharing your photo with us. Rebecca, I am taking your suggestions to heart..re: JUST PAINT!!. I will have to make real effort to find a model with whom I can work..SOON. The work will more than likely be expressive and not entirely realistic. I stopped working on some portraits that were coming along nicely...(being lazy...is just a matter of avoiding concentrated effort sometimes...(unfortunately). I'll have to check myself on this tendency.
I am aware of the discipline required...in really doing some worthwhile work...I often opt for the easy way out. (as you seemed to sense!!). Knowing what it takes..and what good work looks like..is one thing...applying that to my own standards of achievement is another. Bruin70 (milt) has also had very good advice and suggestions in the past. "Focus"...open...fewer doors, but become VERY good once inside the doors that you DO...open. I'm paraphrasing Milt here.......
Thank you once again Rebecca.. I hope to catch everyone in the Cafe again very soon. I work evenings, so I'm often in the Cafe later than most. Hope to see more and more members there!!
