4/6/11 Product Info's Tip of the Week: Bristol Board Surface Options
Bristol Board Surface Options
Bristol board, which is actually a heavy weight paper, is an excellent surface for illustration. Like other papers, it is offered in different surface qualities. Papers noted as Vellum, Cold Press or Regular have a tooth to the surface, which means they have some texture to pick up softer pencil leads and specialty pencils, such as pastel pencils. Papers with a Smooth, Hot Press or Plate offer a very even, smooth finish, which is ideal for fine line detail where the paper must pick up every detail of the stroke.
FAQs:
Where does Bristol board come from?
Bristol board was first made in Bristol, England where they pasted 2 or more layers of paper together, later to be known as 2 ply.
