Re: Once upon a time- Arthur Rackham (november)

Thank you Lawrence, you're very kind.

June, that's a fabulous study.

I have just finished another and will post tomorrow when I get it uploaded to the computer.

You are a wonderful illustrator June. Here's mine...Puck in Midsummer Nights Dream. Pen, water color and crayon.

Lovely to find this Rackham thread -- and what wonderful work everyone has done!

I think his work lends itself to more freedom and looseness, as I see how much enjoyment is in all the work posted up.

I hope this thread continues into December, as then I might have a chance to participate.

Might be nice to try other Victorian illustrators for future threads?

Hi Janet, Puck looks so happy and impish. I am sure he's up to making trouble.

Lauren, you can still post to this thread even though its a November project and we start another illustrator for December. We don't close threads as such!!

Many thanks for the comments on my study of the Alice illustration. It was a treat to copy. His fabulous animals are brilliant. I wonder if I can find any Rackham illustrated books when I go into town tomorrow...in the second-hand stores!

I'm late, I'm late, For a very important date. No time to say "Hello." “Goodbye”. I'm late, I'm late, I'm late.

It's been great fun this month! I'm off to check out the new December thread.

Re: Once upon a time- Arthur Rackham (november)

This Derivian liquid pencil sepia permanent has such a viscosity that it's not easy to pick it up with a thin brush. That's why I needed color pencils for the details. Very difficult medium. But I could see it'd be useful for dinosaurs.

This last one is just Daniel Smith watercolor, Faber Castell Polychromos Colored pencils, Pentel Pocket Calligraphy brushpen.
