"She Grew a Wild Hair"

I had a lot of fun with this painting. Not my usual subject matter, and when my husband saw it, he asked, "What's with the rabbits?"

23" x 18" gouache on handmade rice paper with silver and gold gouache detail

Re: "She Grew a Wild Hair"

thanks, Annie! Although this is much different from my other works, I tend to paint subjects that have (or had) influences on me. I had one of these rabbits when I was a little girl, an American Checker is what I remember the breed was called. Anyway, "Thumper" was my playmate, walked on a leash, and chewed my clothes. I loved him madly, and everyone in the neighborhood laughed at the odd kid with her bunny.

Rabbits rather than crows... that's a pretty cool switch. I like Deborah's use of the word "playful", because it's quite a departure from the more serious feel of most of your work. Beautiful as always, Wendy.
