sad news re Victor Prodnuk

hello all - just wanted to let everyone know that Victor Prodnuk passed away Thursday September 16th - two weeks after his 88th birthday. He hadn't been able to do any scratchboard for a while due to vision problems and lack of ability to keep his hands steady but he loved being a part of Wetcanvas family, talked about and admired many of the artists on this site. Victor lived a full life right to the end - keeping in good spirits - visiting with family and friends and maintaining his wonderful sense of humour until as his wife Betty said "his body just wore out". He was like a dad to me - introduced me to the wonderful medium of scratchboard - supported my efforts as an artist and he will be greatly missed.

Please everyone - join me in three cheers for Victor

Re: sad news re Victor Prodniuk

Thanks for the news Diane. Yes, he was an excellent artist and great contributor. I remember seeing his picture one day and he said he was 84 at the time and his recent picture showed a man who looked like he was no more than 64. He was amazing and while we will mourn his passing, I will join you in celebrating his life

Diane I'm so sorry, what sad news. Thoughts and prayers to you and his family and friends! The Wet Canvas Family is richer by his being a part of it.

Re: sad news re Victor Prodniuk

So sorry to hear of Vistor's passing . I know he loved scratchboard and was always a part of our 'family' here on this forum. He will be missed, but his life seems to have been full and well lived. My thoughts are with his family.

I feel such a loss. I, too, would like to celebrate his life, but I will sure miss him. He was so devoted to his wife, my thoughts are with her.

Re: sad news re Victor Prodniuk

I am so sorry to hear this news. Victor was a regular member of the Pen & Ink Forum for years shareing his wonderful drawings and inspiring so many to pick up the pen. He will be missed by so many.
Victor was funny, kind and very generous with his knowlege. He was a very happy man and shared that happyness with everyone he came into contact with. A life truly to be celebrated.
My deepest sympathies go to Betty at this sad time.

Dear Victor... Thanks for adding to all of our lives here on WC & my guess would be, to every other life you have touched. You will be misssed here but I trust that you have a steady hand and keen eye, once again.

Re: sad news re Victor Prodniuk

How hard would it be to do a tribute thread... With a nice collection of his work in one thread?

So sad to hear of Victor's passing. I think a tribute thread would be a fitting memorial and I think he would approve!!

Re: sad news re Victor Prodniuk

I think a tribute threat would be a good thing for his family and friends...a place to come to remember, and see how many others were touched by him.

Re: sad news re Victor Prodniuk

He was such a personal friend that I never met, but he let me know him through his humor and his art. So often I think of his woodland path work and his Satchmo and hear Satchmo singing It's a Wonderful World, and know a moment of peace. How many of us can give peace to another. Hope you are somewhere enjoying this Trickster.
