Re: Pencil lead sculptures
Oh my! Wowzers. You will be blind soon. That kind of detail so small takes lots of patience and steadiness. Very impressive.

Re: Pencil lead sculptures
It's tiny all right - what is it and what's it made of? Were you featured on Design Swan? I remember seeing an article about someone who sculpted super-tiny things like this - was it you? Just curious.

They are so cool! Do you ever get near the end and then snap the lead? I have enough problems doing that just sketching! Thanks for sharing.

@ ArtsyLynda
This is a paper boat. Made of paper size 1.5 x 2.5 mm. It was made without any optical aids. Here are some more pictures
@ SherChristopher
Many times it happened to me. I finish my sculpture, and she falls out of my hands and breaks down.

Re: Pencil lead sculptures
I don´t know why, i just love it. It is a challenge for me. It is my zen. Every time I create something small, I ask myself could it be even smaller. When I was a kid I loved to create a small books, small boats ... That passion is retained in the present

Re: Pencil lead sculptures
Thanks for explaining! That's the same kind of answer I give when people ask "why horses?" or "why bronze?" - it's my passion. I understand how your work makes you feel. Great feeling, isn't it?

Re: Pencil lead sculptures
Yes it is. The best feeling is when you make something from nothing, and it looks good.

Re: Pencil lead sculptures
I love the whimsy of the tooth. How long does, say a tooth, take to create? Are you able to sell your work?
All beautiful.

Re: Pencil lead sculptures
tnx. I made The tooth for about 2 hours. I made The tooth for about 2 hours. I did not put in the selling my sculpture, because I'm not sure how much money I can get for them. Some recommendations?

Re: Pencil lead sculptures
I just saw a display of Mexican folk art, which included miniatures- including a very tiny box which contained two (dead) dressed-up fleas (tiny insects). About a millimeter or two high, fully dressed. I'm sure they would like your paper boat to play with.
What do you use for carving the leads?
I can't even sharpen my sketch pencils without snapping the leads off...
Very cool.
